The circular ‘PET360®’ drinking cup wins German Design Award 2019

PET360® drinking cups and containers from Bordex Packaging have been named Winner in the Excellent Communications Design category at the internationally renowned German Design Awards. A panel of experts has chosen the best communication and product designs from home and abroad from more than 5,400 entries. The jury in the Packaging category was won over by the circular PET360® cup and rewarded Bordex Packaging with the ‘Winner’ Award. The jury called it an exciting and highly versatile product that’s notable for the fact that it reduces plastic waste without sacrificing the benefits of plastic. 

100% CRADLE TO CRADLE. PET360®: 100% RECYCLED

100% Circular! PET360® are glasses produced from 100% post-consumer PET waste. Even though no new (virgin) PET is added, the raw material loses none of its value. But just as important is the closed 360° ecosystem behind it (The One Project). In six traceable process steps (collection, bailing, cleaning, flaking, PET360® granules and production) used cups are transformed into raw material for new cups. A ‘closed-loop’ system with 0 per cent waste: 100% cradle to cradle!

DEMONSTRABLY DISTINCTIVE

The German Design Council is the highest authority regarding developments in the German design industry and aims to discover, differentiate and present unique design trends. Only products that are demonstrably groundbreaking and distinctive are eligible for such a leading award. This year, there were more than 5,400 entries being considered (44% in the category “Excellent Product Design” and 56% in the category “Excellent Communications Design”). The 45-member international jury had to select and bestow the “Special Mention”, “Winner” and “Gold” awards in the 57 subcategories, including Packaging.
